Godhi Halwa is one of the easy, quick and tasty sweet recipe. As name itself represents, it is prepared from Godhi Hittu/wheat flour. It is also nutritious and easy digestible.
You can make Godhi Halwa in a few minutes and give surprise to the family members. Halwa can be prepared on all casual days, festivals, parties etc.,
Godhi Hittu / wheat flour 1 cup
Sugar ¾ cup
Milk 1 cup (or as required)
Cashew & Raisins 8-10
Ghee ½ cup
Elaichi/cardamom powder ½ tsp
Make sugar powder.
Heat milk and keep aside.
Heat a pan on medium flame, add the 2-3 tsp ghee and fry cashew and raisins till golden brown.
Remove them in a separate bowl and keep aside.
In the same pan, along with the ghee add wheat flour and fry till golden brown. Raw smell should go off and nice aroma is smelled.
Now add sugar powder and mix well.
Slowly on a low flame, add milk with stirring continuously to avoid lumps. (If any lumps are formed, you can break them with the back of the stirring spoon but this should be done immediately)
Add ghee to it and keep turning gently.
When halwa begins to come away from the sides of the pan switch off the flame.
Add cardamom powder, fried cashew, raisins to it and mix well.
Transfer the halwa into 1 inch thick layer on a greased plate. When halwa is slightly cool, cut to the desired shapes.
You can also eat halwa as it is without giving any shapes.
Wheat flour should be fried well. If ghee used is very less halwa will become sticky. Extra ghee can be added if necessary. Sugar can be added as per your taste, if you want more sweet.
