Kadale beeja/Peanuts are widely used in many recipes in many forms. One of them is spicy snack Congress Kadlebeeja.
Congress kadalebeeja/spicy roasted peanuts is a popular Karnataka style spicy roasted peanuts. It is very easy to prepare at home. This is a healthy and mouth watering spicy snacks. Best served with a cup of coffee or tea. Preparing these spicy peanuts is very easy but you need to have patience while roasting the peanuts.
Kadalebeeja/Peanuts 1 cup
Chilli Powder ¼ tsp
Pepper Powder ¼ tsp
Oil 1 tsp
Turmeric 1/5 tsp
Hing/asafoetida 1/5 tsp
Curry Leaves 2 stalks
Sugar powder 1 pinch
Take a pan dry roast peanuts/Kadalebeeja till its brown in medium flame. Allow to cool.
Take a cloth cover or a towel put roasted peanuts/Kadalebeeja into it.
Lightly tap with a wooden hand or rub briskly to de-skin.
Now remove all the husk and take out split roasted peanuts/Kadalebeeja and keep aside.
Take a pan put oil into it and heat it.
Add add curry leaves and fry for 1-2 mins.
Add turmeric, chilli powder and pepper powder. Mix well.
Now add roosted peanuts/Kadalebeeja, sugar powder into it and mix well.
Squeeze curry leaves into powder and mix well. Rub with the help of your hand to mix well.
Congress peanuts/Kadalebeeja is ready. You can have it with a cup of coffee or tea.
Store in an air tight container to retain cripsyness.
Peanuts/Kadalebeeja should be roasted well till it is brown. Else you will not get grispy Congress peanuts/Kadalebeeja. It should not be over roasted or undone. Avoid burning too, as this gives bitter taste. Your skill lies here. You can also roast peanuts in microwave oven but I will not suggest to use it. If you want more spicy you can add more chilli and pepper powder. You can add amchur powder to get additional taste.
